Project Overview
Arrow is a smart shipping app that uses drone technology to deliver packages quickly and efficiently. The goal was to design a clean and easy-to-use app that lets users book, track, and manage deliveries in real time. As the product designer, I handled the full process — from research and wireframes to prototyping and testing.
Background and Objective
People today expect faster and more transparent deliveries. Traditional courier services often face delays and lack live tracking. Arrow was created to solve these issues using drones. The main goal was to make the delivery process simple, clear, and trustworthy through a user-centered mobile experience.
Design Process
The design process followed the five stages of Design Thinking — Define, Empathize, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. I started by understanding user problems and their frustrations with delivery apps. After researching and mapping user needs, I sketched early ideas and built wireframes. Later, I created high-fidelity prototypes and tested them with users to refine the experience and ensure smooth navigation.
User Research and Personas
Two main personas guided the design — Sarah Johnson and Arya Kantos, both from Bangalore.
Sarah is a small business owner who ships products often and wants reliable tracking. Arya is a casual user who prefers a quick and easy process. Their goals and challenges helped shape the app’s features — focusing on clarity, live updates, and ease of use.User Flow and Information Architecture
The app flow was designed to be simple and intuitive. Users can easily start a new delivery, add shipment details, confirm the route, and track their package in real time. Every step was streamlined to make the process fast and stress-free. Live tracking adds transparency and builds trust.
Wireframes and Prototyping
Wireframes helped visualize the basic layout and user journey before adding visuals. Once finalized, I designed high-fidelity screens that combined functionality with a clean modern look. The key screens included delivery booking, live tracking, and user profiles. Every detail was designed for a smooth and consistent experience.
Visual Design and Style Guide
The visual style of Arrow is modern, minimal, and calming. The color palette mixes teal, blue, and white, symbolizing trust and technology. The Montserrat typeface keeps the design clean and readable. Illustrations and icons bring a friendly, futuristic feel that matches the app’s concept.
Outcome and Solution
Arrow makes drone-based deliveries simple and reliable. Users can easily book, monitor, and receive live updates about their shipments. The design helps users feel in control while interacting with advanced drone technology in a friendly way.
Conclusion
Arrow shows how UX design can make complex technology simple for users. By focusing on clarity, empathy, and usability, the final product delivers a smooth and engaging experience. The app reimagines modern delivery — fast, transparent, and powered by drones.
